MCAS Testing begins Tuesday, April 8th
Tomorrow, April 8th, students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 will begin ELA MCAS Testing. We will test on Tuesday and Thursday of this week.
Our students are well prepared to take the ELA MCAS. Still, as with anything that is highly anticipated, it is important to communicate to your child that the MCAS is only one of the many opportunities to show what he or she can do independently.
Below are a few tips that can make the MCAS a better experience.
- See that your child is well rested and eats a healthy breakfast before school tomorrow.
- See that your child arrives to school on time.
- Please provide a healthy snack and drink for your child.
- Encourage your child to do his or her best work possible.
- Please have your child bring to school a book of great interest for him/her to read when finished with the testing.

Tutoring Opportunity For All Sheehan Students
I am writing to share with families an amazing tutoring opportunity for Sheehan students.
Former Sheehan student Francesca Gennari, currently a senior at Westwood High School and member of the National Honor Society, and classmate Lucas Pinto have started a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, EduCare, that offers free tutoring for students. This project, which is part of their National Honor Society project requirement, has been in the works for many months and they are excited to share this volunteer opportunity with Sheehan families.
For the past few years, Francesca and Lucas have been members of Westwood High School's Tutoring Club. They hope to offer a valuable resource to Sheehan School for any students in need of academic assistance as the school year comes to an end. They have formed a partnership with the Westwood Public Library, reserving tables for prospective tutoring opportunities to make the process of finding a tutor quick and accessible. They have coordinated volunteers through Westwood High School’s National Honor Society.
Francesca and Lucas can be reached at the following email address to schedule an exploratory/introductory Zoom meeting: educaretutoringma@gmail.com.
I would highly recommend this opportunity for our students and families to work with two Westwood High School students.
Please reach out to me with any questions.

Please see information below from our Sheehan PTA.
